Editing Rates

My Rates are determined by:

  1. Your project’s word count. A “page” for cost-estimate purposes is 250 words, and the editing rate estimates pages per hour.
  2. Standard editing task descriptions from the Editor’s Association of Canada, viewable here.
  3. Standard estimates for how long the required type of editing will take, given its audience, complexity, state of completion, and length. A reference for this can be found here, on the Editorial Freelancer’s Association.
  4. Your sample edit, your submitted document (where applicable), and the level of editing we have agreed upon for the project.
  5. My previous experience tracking my hours for projects of similar length and complexity.

What my quote will include:

  1. An hourly rate, based on your document, your timeline, and the agreed-upon level of editing.
  2. An estimate of my hours, along with a total cost at that hourly rate.
  3. A contract for you to sign should you wish to proceed.
