Editing Rates
My Rates are determined by:
- Your project’s word count. A “page” for cost-estimate purposes is 250 words, and the editing rate estimates pages per hour.
- Standard editing task descriptions from the Editor’s Association of Canada, viewable here.
- Standard estimates for how long the required type of editing will take, given its audience, complexity, state of completion, and length. A reference for this can be found here, on the Editorial Freelancer’s Association.
- Your sample edit, your submitted document (where applicable), and the level of editing we have agreed upon for the project.
- My previous experience tracking my hours for projects of similar length and complexity.
What my quote will include:
- An hourly rate, based on your document, your timeline, and the agreed-upon level of editing.
- An estimate of my hours, along with a total cost at that hourly rate.
- A contract for you to sign should you wish to proceed.
